Tiered Maple Display Table

One of my clients wanted to start building some new displays to refresh the ones she had. She had a couple ideas around tiered displays she has seen on Pintrest.

The Design

Like everything I do with wood there is always a design, if the build is complicated there will be a more complicated design. In this case the design was relatively simple yet the mock up helped visual understand the proportions and measurements of each tier. The material used is a combination of hard maple (for the legs and supports) and maple plywood for the shelves. It was decided to leave the plywood edge visible for a couple reasons, 1) the client and I both hate edge banding, and 2) we wanted to have more of an industrial design.

The Build

This build required precisely cut rebates into each layer of plywood at precise locations. To do this I used a CnC to cut them for me. The circles were also cut on the CnC.

The Legs

The legs and supports between each layers were cut on the lathe using a router jig to cut them clean and level every time.

The Finished Product

Assembly was straight forward however to ensure strength the legs were screwed in from the top on at least 1 tier.
